Open access payments of research funded by Research Council of Finland or European Union
Publications of the research funded by the Research Council of Finland, the European Union or other organisations endorsing Plan S must be made immediately available open access.
According to the Plan S principles, immediate openness of research publications is possible to achieve
- By self-archiving the accepted manuscript in an open access repository (e.g. JYX) without embargo with an open license (see How to Self-archive)
- By publishing in Open Access journals or on Open Access platforms
- By publishing in hybrid journals of transformative agreements
- JYU has several agreements with scientific publishers that enable publishing articles open access without additional payments. Publishing articles open access under the transformative agreements is Plan S compliant (see JYU's open access agreements with publishers)
- The easiest way to check whether a journal or publishing platform is compliant with Plan S is to use the Journal Checker Tool or you can ask the publisher.

- Those granted funding following the full cost model and whose funding period has started on or after September 1, 2021.
- The University of Jyväskylä applies the full cost model, for example, to grants from the Research Council of Finland and to the majority of Business Finland grants.
- If you are not sure whether your project follows the full cost model, please contact the Research and Innovation Services or the project controller in charge of your project.
