Open publication channels and open publishing practices
Open access
Open access (OA) publications are available online in their entirety and free of charge for anyone to use. The open reuse of a copyrighted publication is enabled through an open license, allowing the copyright holder to specify what others can do with the publication.
Open publication channels, such as journals and books, do not charge readers subscription fees, meaning that articles published in them are freely accessible on the publisher’s platform immediately upon publication.
Self-archiving research publication in the JYX repository is a permissible, free and effortless way to make research results openly available to everyone, even when the publication series is not open access and the article remains behind a paywall.
