Open peer review

Open peer review is a method for enhancing open science by improving scholarly communication and scholarly publishing practices.

Open peer review enables the transparency of publishing and reviewing processes and it aims to prevent misunderstandings and malpractices regarding these processes.

Open peer review can be implemented in different ways:

  • By promoting open interaction between the authors and the reviewers
  • By disclosing the identities of the authors and the reviewers
  • By open participation when larger community participates in reviewing process
  • By making the reviewers’ reports public
