Thesis Copyright

No literary work is created without an author. This applies to theses and dissertations as well. Copyrights entitle authors to determine how their creations are to be used. Copyrights come into force as soon as the work is produced. The copyright holder can also decide on making the product available for others.

Saving a thesis or dissertation in the JYX publication archive does not affect copyrights, they remain with the author.

Citations and referencing

Theses and dissertations must comply with the responsible conduct of research. This also means respecting other peoples’ copyrights. From the outset, students should learn the correct ways of referencing and using citations in their academic writings.

Library tutorials on research ethics and referencing provide a good basis for the authors of theses and dissertations.
